Corrine
61cm x 61cm x 4cm
Acrylic on canvas
There’s something about a redhead. Add long curls and she becomes unpredictable. ‘Corrine’ was also a Bond girl.
I painted her in warm tones of reds pinks and oranges with accents of blue and purple to create excitement. I discovered an old James Bond ‘Moonraker’ novel from 1960 a few years ago in a stash of old books. The beautiful sepia toned pages were falling apart and beckoning to be given another life. Using them as collage in the background along with some asemic script, seemed quite fitting for this exciting portrait. I painted her eyes with intense clarity, and I add a tiny touch of most colours to the eyes to connect them to the face.
